Action Alert: Expand Medical Nutrition Therapy Coverage

Please take 1-minute of your time to tell Congress to support expanding Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) coverage. In the current state of health with COVID-19, individuals are in need of healthcare coverage. (The letter is pre-populated, all you have to do is add your name and press send!)

This bill would provide coverage under Medicare Part B for MNT for:

• Prediabetes;

• Obesity;

• Hypertension;

• Dyslipidemia;

• Malnutrition;

• Eating disorders;

• Cancer;

• Celiac disease;

• HIV/AIDS; and

• Any disease related to unintentional weight loss.

The MNT Act also allows the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services to expand coverage for MNT to other disease or condition as determined medically necessary. The bill would authorize nurse practitioners, physician assistants, clinical nurse specialists and psychologists to refer their patients for MNT.
